What Is the Island Hopper?
The Island Hopper is Malama Tours’ signature multi-day experience — a fully guided, six-night journey across two of Hawaiʻi’s most distinct islands.
You’ll begin in Oʻahu: Pearl Harbor, the North Shore, a surf lesson, and an authentic luau. Then fly to Hawaiʻi Island, where a local guide takes you through Volcanoes National Park, across the island from Hilo to Kona, and into one of Hawaiʻi’s most unforgettable wildlife encounters — a guided manta ray night snorkel.
Flights, hotels, transportation, activities, welcome dinner, and farewell dinner are all included. Max 12 guests. Your group never gets lost in a crowd.
The Journey at a Glance
Welcome to Oʻahu
Arrive in Honolulu. Your airport transfer is waiting. Settle into your 4-star hotel, ease into island time, and join your group for a hosted welcome dinner.
Pearl Harbor & North Shore
Morning at Pearl Harbor including the USS Arizona Memorial experience. Then north — Dole Plantation, Haleʻiwa town, shave ice, and the famous surf breaks of Oʻahu’s North Shore before returning to Honolulu.
Surf & Celebration
Start the morning with a professionally guided surf lesson — included for all guests, optional to participate. Afternoon at leisure in Waikīkī. Evening: a traditional Oʻahu luau featuring island cuisine and cultural performance.
Hawaiʻi Island: Volcano to Kona
Morning inter-island flight from Honolulu to Hilo. Meet your local guide and head into Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park — lava fields, dramatic geology, and landscapes found nowhere else on earth. Then make the cross-island journey from Hilo to Kona, a route most visitors never experience. Check into your Kona hotel.
Manta Night
Morning at leisure in Kona — beach, town, or optional activities. That evening: a guided Manta Ray Night Snorkel, one of Hawaiʻi’s most extraordinary wildlife encounters.
South Kona Explorer
A curated day along the Kona coast. Visit Puʻuhonua o Hŋnaunau National Historical Park, explore ancient Hawaiian culture, and stop at Two Step for optional snorkeling. Continue to a local Kona coffee farm for tasting. Afternoon at leisure. Evening: farewell dinner with your group.

Why the Island Hopper
Two islands that couldn’t be more different — sequenced to work together.
Oʻahu is history, energy, and surf culture. Hawaiʻi Island is raw geology, ancient culture, and open coast. Most visitors choose one. The Island Hopper gives you both — in an order and at a pace that makes each feel complete.
The manta ray night snorkel.
This isn’t a bolt-on add-on. It’s included. The manta rays that gather off the Kona coast at night are one of the most genuinely extraordinary wildlife experiences in the Pacific. We built it into the itinerary because it belongs there.
A route most visitors never take.
The Hilo-to-Kona cross-island transfer on Day 4 takes you through terrain that most Big Island visitors never see. It’s one of the most scenic drives in Hawaiʻi and a reminder of just how large and diverse this island is. Your guide knows every mile of it.
Max 12 guests. Every time.
This isn’t a coach tour. Your guide knows your name on Day 1 and remembers it on Day 7. The experience is designed for a small group, and we keep it that way.
